February 1, 2022 – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reports between January 24, 2022 and January 30, 2022, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET), along with Sheriff’s Deputies of San Bernardino from several different Patrol Stations, served 17 search warrants at various locations in Apple Valley, Wonder Valley, Twentynine Palms, Hinkley, El Mirage, Walnut, Hinkley, Adelanto, West Covina, Hesperia, Alhambra and Chino Hills. MET staff had received numerous complaints about large outdoor and indoor marijuana grow operations in these areas. Over the past week, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s staff have located and arrested 36 suspects. Investigators seized 52,715 marijuana plants, 3,575.5 pounds of processed marijuana, 10 firearms and over $51,000.00 in cash. Investigators eradicated a total of 256 greenhouses found at these locations. Investigators attenuated an electrical bypass and a THC extraction lab.

Investigations revealed that the cannabis crops did not comply with the California Medical and Adult Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA) and San Bernardino County’s ordinance prohibiting commercial cannabis activity. cannabis. San Bernardino County has a law prohibiting commercial cannabis activity, which includes growing marijuana plants outdoors.

The Sheriff’s Gang and Narcotics Division will continue to enforce California cannabis laws and the San Bernardino County ordinance regarding the cultivation and distribution of cannabis. Those found guilty of violating state law and the county ordinance are subject to fines, prosecution and seizure of property.

Landlords who grow marijuana or know that their tenants are growing marijuana on their properties in violation of state law and local ordinances may also face civil or criminal penalties. Owners are encouraged to contact their local law enforcement or code compliance agency to confirm if cultivation of cannabis is prohibited or permitted under specific regulations.

The suspects were cited or convicted for cultivation of cannabis, more than six plants, possession for sale of marijuana, illegal discharge of water, manufacture of a controlled substance, theft of utilities and conspiracy.
