OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. – Inmates are causing damage after getting angry that others were given a pencil, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff‘s Office.

Today on social media the Sheriff’s Office posted about the incident which happened on Sunday evening July 17th. According to the message, four inmates got angry because another group received a pencil.

“These inmates then started a fire in their playground, blocked the main door with bunks and then started breaking the windows. Officers responded, along with firefighters and medical personnel, in case they were needed. After these inmates were taken out of the cell and placed in another cell, they broke a hot water pipe.

Social media posting by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office then continued, addressing any medical concerns.

“At no time has anyone been to the hospital and no medical flights have been called. We do not have a helicopter landing pad on our roof.

The sheriff’s office social media account responded to questions about the post. One of them asked how inmates start fires. The authorities replied, “on the one hand, they are destroying the wall sockets that we have just installed”.

KOAM will speak with the sheriff later this week.
