The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department searched the countryside west of Lamartine for about an hour overnight, looking for a driver who jumped from a car that had escaped officers on the roads national 151 and 26.
The chase for the black sedan with Illinois plates began southbound on State Highway 26 after a deputy tried to pull the vehicle over for a speeding violation. Driver joined 151 south, briefly passing through Dodge County through Waupun, then crossed the median and headed north, again crossing the median 2 more times, heading south then back again north on 151 where the speed reached 120 mph.
The driver again turned north on Hwy 26 and then east on County Highway TC where he attempted to avoid a tire deflation device by driving into the ditch, but two tires ended up hitting the strip of studs.
With both tires shredded from the rims, the driver stopped the vehicle and jumped out of the car heading north into a cornfield on TC,
east of Dehring Road.
The sheriff’s department briefly deployed a K9 to follow, but moved on to search with a drone in the air.
After scanning the area for about an hour, the search was triggered and the perimeter was broken down.
The Wisconsin State Patrol and Waupun Police Department assisted the Fond du Lac County Sheriff‘s Office in the pursuit that spanned 14.5 miles. There were no injuries or property damaged in the pursuit.
