RED BLUFF, Calif. – The search is underway for an inmate who escaped from the Tehama County Jail Friday morning.

Tehama County deputies said Trey King escaped just before 4 a.m. Friday. Deputies said they opened a door as inmates took out the bins for a detail of work.

King ran past the deputies escaping from police custody. MPs think King could be assisted by Bethany Gaylord of Red Bluff.

King was awaiting trial after his arrest in November following a police chase and assault charges against an officer. Deputies said King was seen as a threat to the community.

He was last seen wearing all the dark blue clothing issued by the prison. He is 5’8″ and weighs around 170 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

King has a large tattoo on his neck as well as several other tattoos.

The Tehama County District Attorney‘s Office said he had no weapon when arrested but should be considered dangerous.

If you have any information on King’s whereabouts, contact the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.
