QUINCY — The Adams County Sheriff‘s Office has arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the death of an elderly man.
Just after 7 a.m. Thursday, an Adams County Sheriff’s Department deputy observed what were described as “suspicious circumstances” at a residence in the Gross Gables subdivision on the north side of Quincy.
The deputy and other officers entered the residence to check on the owner. As soon as they entered, the deputies discovered the body of the owner.
The sheriff’s office immediately began investigating the death as a homicide.
Deputies arrested the teenager in the Third and Chestnut area just before noon.
The sheriff’s office received assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit and the Quincy Police Department.
The sheriff’s department was asking for help on social media this morning to find a missing person, but later deleted those posts.
